About William C Kelday

aboutWilliam Kelday trained at London College of Furniture and graduated in the 1980s. He worked with wonderful violin restorer and maker, the late Neil Baird, for 5 years and has had his own workshop for 20 years concentrating on making to commission and restoration of both guitar and violin family. William went to live in Italy in 2009 for one year to work with a cello maker to develop his skills in the Italian method of making and varnishing techniques.

He returned to Scotland in 2010 and has re-established his workshop in partnership with Sheena Laurie under the banner of "The Fiddle and Guitar Shop" (a tribute to Neil Baird - this was his old workshop sign) in Fintry, near Glasgow. He is also currently teaching violin and guitar making in Anniesland College, Glasgow.

With 25 years of instrument making, restoration and repair and a continuing passion for making stringed instruments to the highest standard using traditional techniques, William will go to extreme lengths to achieve the best results for every musician's needs.
